Archive for 'Families'

Everything about this shoot went well.  Our little cute here started out a little shy, but ended up as darling as she could be, the lighting was fabulous, and everyone so fun!  Momma delivered a little brother 3 weeks later, so I have some of his newborn shots to share with you soon as well….

Just checking out some of my amazing sessions I had during the Holiday Season, and this one always made me laugh!

Thank goodness Mom thought so too.  Not every Mom would like this picture, some only want the perfect smiles with the perfect hair.  But looking at this image, you can see their personalities, and that is both timeless and priceless!  That is why this Mom made a big ‘ol print out of this image, and then used it on 200 Christmas cards going all over the country!

Personality trumps all!!!

Gotta love these spunky kids… they must get it from their parents, who are quite amazing people!  I love shooting in the home, it’s so fun to create art out of you and your family.  It can be so much more than “family pictures”.

This above image is just what I am talking about.  You could have a nice random picture of flowers on your wall as art, or this.  Your sweet child and your pups… your family art.  This would look amazing as a 4 foot gallery wrap canvas at the end of the hallway.

Don’t you just love the drool?

My poor blog has been neglected… so sorry, I have been so crazy backed up that nothing is getting on here… yikes!!

I did want to share about my daughter and her baptism day.  We are LDS, and when our children turn 8, they are baptized as official members of our church.

This was a very special day for her and for our family.

Hope you enjoy the images.

I took a few pictures of her in her white dress at the Mesa Temple.  The baptism was performed on a different day in a regular church building with a font, but the temple is so important to us as a family since it is where we were sealed (married) for this life and all eternity.

Before Addie’s baptism, we had a family brunch at our house with all the cousins and friends.

Mal and I were excited to try some new ideas off of our crazy addiction Pinterest!

So glad I made it into one photo for the day… that’s rare, right?

Cousins are the best!

Oh, and you can check out my personal profile here.

Ocean front property in Arizona?  I say yes!  Just a short 6 hour drive to Southern California from Phoenix and we are there baby!!  It’s actually so fun to do beach photography in Southern Cali for my great Phoenix clients, so many of us play on the California beaches every year if not a couple times per year, that it makes sense to capture the memories of your family playing on the beach together!   I love that this family was so playful, and they would laugh about everything, so it made it all so relaxed and easy to work with them.   Doesn’t this just make your toes antsy for some sand to curl up in?  I will be doing beach photography again during Fall Break, whether you are from Phoenix or not, meet me there!  See the details on my site here.

I knew when the mom, Kristin, told me in our design consultation she didn’t care if her little guy was just facing up with his hands towards her for a picture, but that she just wanted to show the family having fun.  I knew then, that I would be able to shoot how I really want and love to shoot.    Some say they like creative shots, but when it comes to hanging a large print on their wall, they look for the one where everyone is facing forward with a nice smile, and archive the real creative ones.  While I believe that a traditional family portrait is great and can be amazing, and there are times  when you really should have a great family portrait like that, this is my favorite way to shoot!   I want to showcase families in love with the idea of their family!  I love capturing laughter, play, and fun!  I crave the imperfect shots that combine art and your family.  I am crazy about telling your story!  And I love seeing them huge on your walls!  My “Day In The Life” shoot does this, and I am so excited that I’ve been able to work with families here and here that love capturing the small details and the amazing relationships in your family even more than the portrait.  And while this shoot I did with Kristin’s darling family is not a “Day In The Life”,  I was able infuse tons of creativity and just have fun!   I am in love!

Thank you Kara and Shawni for the referral of this fun family!  I was so honored to do this shoot for the Mom, Christy, since their oldest is leaving the nest, and it is the last family picture for the next 4 years, and who knows what the dynamic of their family will be then.  It was so important for Christy to have this done and to remember her family as it is now and we both just loved how they turned out.  It’s always so great for me to have friends like her with older children!  I feel like I get dropped these pearls of wisdom about parenting with our conversations and I so love that!  What I learned from Christy is that there is so much joy in having your kids around you.  She is a great example of a Mother that really loves her kids, and soaks in every minute of their family life!  I guess you can see for yourself why.  What a great family!!

This shot is so much fun!  It just looks like their family is a total blast and they all love having fun together, especially the littlest one, so cute!

Check out this amazing family, their beautiful kids, and the fun!!

Oh, my!  When I left my design session with this Mom, 2 weeks before the shoot, I knew I was going to be in heaven! They have the perfect everything for a photographer…. darling  1930-something little house, 2 beautiful girls, colorful whimsical home and yard, large trees, close and loving relationship!  I just came home gushing about this family and how cute they are and how lucky these 2 little girls are because they have this fabulous and creative Mom who used to be a teacher and home schools them, and how they get to snuggle and play during the day and that they have a tree house and 2 tree swings!!   If you live in the East Valley, chances are very slim that you have a tree mature enough to support a swing… and they can hold 3 people on their swing…. sooo lucky!!!!   I just adored everything!  I loved the bathtub they installed on the side of the house, the colorful quilt that was a pretend horse’s saddle draped over a branch that was a pretend horse. I loved that the girls were so close that they could have been twins!  If I wasn’t shooting them for a minute, their imaginations had already whisked them away to some land that I haven’t been to in years, and I wish my own kids would visit more often.  Their sister relationship was so blissful, so contented, and so sweet!    I hope you can see in these images fun and loving atmosphere that was just glowing from this family and this home!  Oh, and thank you Claudia for referring this great family!  I can see why you are friends!!

It’s always fun to take pics of friends and the Dad of this darling family has been buds with my husband since Junior High!  We had awesome overcast skies which create a fabulous filter over the sun for some nice even lighting on the subjects.   Like all kids these ages, the girls were thrilled to have their pics taken, and the boys were so not excited about the whole venture.   But, we played and laughed and got some great shots of them enjoying each other.  My fave is the husband and wife shot… makes me laugh!  Glad to see they still got it!
